A road tunnel with two lanes was constructed as a faster alternative route to the Winden bypass. The contract for blasting and concreting the invert and emergency exits was awarded by ARGE Tunnel Brandberg.

A unique situation at this construction site was that the miners had to carry out two thirds of the driving work in rock containing asbestos. Due to the high safety precautions, work was carried out with extensive protective equipment.
